Welcome. If you’ve landed here, you may be wondering: what exactly is the Pagan Church of Christ, and what would it actually look like to walk through the door for the first time?
This page is for you.
What We Are
The Pagan Church of Christ is a non-denominational, earth-honoring spiritual community. We draw from the wisdom of earth-based traditions and the ethical teachings that have shaped spiritual communities across generations.
We gather on Sundays, at the new moon, and at the turning of each season. We sit in circle. We share readings from many sources. We sing, we pray, we eat together, and we take care of one another.
We are not a “witch church” — though people who practice witchcraft are welcome here. We are not a Christian church in the traditional institutional sense — though people who love the teachings of Jesus are welcome here too. We exist in the space between those worlds, and we think that space deserves a community.
What to Expect at Your First Gathering
When you arrive, you’ll find chairs arranged in a circle rather than rows. There is usually a small altar at the center with seasonal items — a candle, stones, flowers, water. Someone will greet you and make sure you have what you need.
The gathering opens gently — a bell, a breath, a welcome. There’s a reading, some reflection time, often music. We close with a blessing and usually share food or tea afterward. The whole gathering runs about 90 minutes.
You are welcome to participate as much or as little as feels right. You can sit quietly. You can join in the singing. You can introduce yourself or remain anonymous. There is no wrong way to attend.
What to Wear
Wear whatever makes you comfortable. People come in everything from hiking clothes to flowing robes to jeans and a sweater. There is no dress code. Seasonal gatherings that take place outdoors may require layers — we’ll let you know in advance.
Do I Need to Believe Anything Specific?
No. We do not have a creed or a statement of faith that members are required to affirm. What we share is less a set of beliefs than a set of questions — a sense that the world is sacred, that community matters, and that love is the most reliable compass we have.
Doubt is welcome here. Uncertainty is welcome. If you arrive holding more questions than answers, you are in very good company.
Is This a Safe Space?
Yes. The Pagan Church of Christ is an explicitly inclusive community. We welcome people of all genders, sexualities, races, ages, abilities, and backgrounds. We do not require you to be any particular kind of person to belong here. The circle is wide.
How Do I Get the Address?
For the privacy and security of our community, we share gathering locations with people who have connected with us directly. Visit the Events page to find the next gathering and reach out through the contact information there. We will get back to you promptly with everything you need.
What If I’m Not Sure I Belong?
Come anyway.
Almost everyone who is now part of this community arrived wondering the same thing. The Pagan Church of Christ was built for people who have spent years feeling like they were too spiritual for the secular world and too questioning for the religious one. If that sounds like you, there is probably a seat here with your name on it.
You don’t have to join. You don’t have to commit to anything on your first visit. Come once, see how it feels, and decide from there. We will be glad you came.
